More than one million transfer passengers have connected through Dublin Airport so far this year – a significant milestone and a new record.
The number of passengers connecting on transatlantic routes grew by 22% during the first ten months of the year.
Ronan Fitzsimons, Head of Transfer Product, said this year’s record numbers are largely due to additional capacity on new and existing routes.
“The ability to fill this capacity, given the size of the overall market, is testament to the combination of value fares and the product proposition which Dublin Airport can offer. We see Dublin Airport as an airport that people want to connect through, rather than have to connect through”
To mark the achievement, Chicago native Ryan Meyers (above) was announced as the winner of two transatlantic flights on the #DUBConnections social media competition, in which transfer passengers were invited to tweet a selfie on their journey through Dublin Airport.
Mr Myers has connected through Dublin Airport on numerous occasions. “This is such a great win for me, I am thrilled with the prize and am always highly impressed by the customer service, convenience, and all of the amenities, especially the free and reliable Wi-Fi routers available at Dublin Airport”.
