Dublin Airport has won the overall award for the ‘Best Use of Social & Digital Media’ by any airport in the world in ‘The Moodies – the airport and travel retail digital media awards’ for 2018.
Dublin gained the highest possible accolade as well as winning the awards for ‘Best Airport Twitter Feed’ and ‘Best Airport Instagram’ account in the world.
This is the third time that Dublin Airport has won the world’s ‘Best Airport Twitter Feed’ award.
The judges on announcing the top overall award said Dublin Airport “can boast excellence across all of its social and digital media platforms”.
“Whether it’s Twitter, Instagram or Facebook, it is always switched on, with fast-rotating, engaging content, superb sense of place and strong analytics. A deserving winner of this hotly contested accolade, and in our 2018 awards, a triple winner.”
The judges said Dublin Airport’s Twitter feed “consistently delivers superb levels of interaction and engagement as well as fostering a strong sense of airport community”.
Dermot Davitt, Deputy Publisher of The Moodie Report said: “Dublin Airport is one of the most active on social media anywhere in the airport world, with its Twitter feed broadcasting items ranging from the fun to the informative every day.”
Dublin Airport’s Twitter account currently has 266,000 followers.
Dublin Airport beat off competition from seven other nominated airport business Twitter accounts from around the world – Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, Delhi Duty Free Services, Dubai Airports, Duty Free Americas, London Gatwick Airport, London Heathrow Airport, and World Duty Free.
Giving Dublin Airport the top award for its use of Instagram, the judges said it and two other category winners “consistently deliver high quality imagery tailored to their specific audiences. They have each displayed that Instagram has become a vital component in social media campaigns across travel retail.”
